(Oroville, CA) – CHP-Oroville report a vehicle pursuit yesterday morning, involving a 9-year-old boy.

The incident began at 9:20 when an officer observed a gray Volkswagen sedan stopped in the middle of the Grand Avenue/4th Street intersection. The driver then sped off, leading to a pursuit to a gravel parking lot next to Plumas Elementary School. Then, after initially coming to a stop, the driver reversed directly into the squad patrol vehicle which had pulled up behind it.

The driver was determined to be a 9-year-old boy, “who wanted to drive himself to school” according to CHP-Oroville. He was “safely” taken there following the incident.
