(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – The Yuba County District Attorney reports that yesterday, David Martin Shaw, Sr. of Marysville, convicted of rape and attempted murder 25 years ago, was denied parole at his first hearing since being incarcerated.

His original sentence was 24-to-life, however, he was subsequently charged with another attempted murder for attempting to kill his cellmate.

According to a press release, Deputy Yuba County District Attorney Caitlin Smith was present to oppose Shaw’s release, and the Parole Board agreed, finding that β€œhe continues to pose an unreasonable risk to public safety,” denying parole for another five years.
