(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – CHP Yuba-Sutter has issued a press release applauding the efforts of Officer M. Covington and Dispatcher Emily McLain for working together to figure out a baffling case.

It began with Covington being dispatched to the Adventist Health and Rideout Hospital Emergency Department Wednesday, for a man who’d been in a collision, “with no recollection of what had happened.” The officer was unable to match the man’s name and age with any local collisions, or anyone on the recently hospitalized or incarcerated database. The dispatcher then contacted the sheriff in the man’s stated hometown in another state, and obtained a license plate number of a vehicle he had been stopped in by law enforcement there previously.

The plate cane back to an individual wanted in Contra Costa County for a felony hit & run fatality last weekend.

Ultimately, the work of Officer Covington and Dispatcher McLain resulted in the suspect being taken into custody by a CHP Contra Costa officer.
