Yuba-Sutter, CA) – The Yuba County Board of Supervisors has unanimously approved sending a letter of opposition to the California Public Utilities Commission, urging them to reject AT&T’s recent request that they be absolved of their current, so-called “Carrier of Last Resort” obligation. That entails providing and maintaining landline service.
Yuba County officials, including OES and the Sheriff’s Department oppose AT&T’s request because “landline service is vital to residents and first responders during an emergency. This is especially true for foothill residents who have fewer market options for reliable alternative services” according to a press release.
They’re encouraging Yuba County residents to “weigh in” at the CPUC’s public forum on the matter, Tuesday March 19th.
