(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – At their meeting this week, the Yuba County Board of Supervisors voted to continue the county’s ban on the growing of industrial hemp, at the recommendation of the Yuba County Ag Commissioner.
The Appeal-Democrat reports Commissioner Stephen Scheer told the board the primary concerns with industrial hemp cultivation are public safety, nuisance complaints, “the workload it creates for local departments” and “land use issues that arise.” Scheer also claims “industrial hemp has not shown to be an economically viable crop.”
