(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – Unlike previous Saturday night DUI checkpoints this month in Marysville and Yuba City, the Yuba City Police Department reports it will be conducting such this Sunday.
Officers will be on the lookout for impaired drivers, at an undisclosed location, Sunday evening beginning at 7:00, and continuing until 1:00 early Monday morning. Impaired is not restricted to the influence of too much alcohol either, as officers will also be checking for anyone under the influence of prescription medications and even over-the-counter medications that can affect driving.
The checkpoints are required by law to be announced in advance and The Appeal-Democrat reports “The primary purpose of the checkpoint is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the road.”
