(Sacramento, CA) – In Federal Court in Sacramento yesterday, 29-year-old Billy Glyn Sims Jr. of Yuba City pled guilty to federal charges of illegally selling guns and being a felon in possession of firearms.
U.S. District Attorney Phillip Talbert issued a press release announcing the plea following an investigation that gathered evidence of sims Jr., between April 1st of last year and March of this year, sold guns without a license in three separate undercover operations. Those transactions occurred in motel & apartment complex parking lots. The firearms sold include a Mossberg shotgun, Ruger single action revolver and a black powder revolver & ammunition, in Yuba, Sutter and Yolo Counties.
Sims Jr. was prohibited from possessing firearms due to previous felony convictions for burglary and domestic violence. He faces a maximum of 15 years in federal prison and half-a-million-dollars in fines at his sentencing on January 18th of next year.
