(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – The Yuba City Police Department reports a dramatic pursuit and arrest of a felon.
The incident began early yesterday afternoon at 12:45, when an officer on routine patrol saw a wanted felon, 32-year-old Alejandro Herrera driving in the 500 block of Colusa Avenue and attempted to pull him over. However, Herrera took off, initiating a surface street pursuit lasting “approximately three minutes” according to a news release.
Herrera then drove onto a levee road, fled on foot from the vehicle, minus any shoes, and jumped into the Feather River. He then swam to an island. Yuba City Fire watercraft were called in an Herrera was arrested.
There were no injuries to officers or other citizens, but Herrera sustained minor injuries “as a result of running with no shoes on and a K-9 apprehension.” He was booked after receiving medical care.
