(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – At their meeting Tuesday, the Yuba City Council voted unanimously to reduce their Water Shortage Contingency Plan from a Stage 3 Sever Shortage status, to a Stage 1 Water Alert, due to, “the above average precipitation in the first quarter of 2023” according to a staff report. It adds that the Department of Water Resources has increased the city’s State Water Project allotment from just 15% of contracted amount last year to 85% for this year.

The Stage 1 Water Alert eliminates mandatory restrictions, but still allows for enforcement of violations for water waste, according to The Appeal-Democrat. That includes using hoses without shutoff nozzles to wash vehicles & lawns as well as landscaping watering within 48 hours of any measurable precipitation.
