(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – The Yuba County Sheriff’s office is providing additional details regarding yesterday’s school threat, which was originally mistaken as local.
Dispatch received a call early yesterday morning from a parent who was alerted by their child of a school shooting threat on Snapchat. The threat referenced “MHS” and “LHS,” which turned out to be Modesto schools in the 209 area code. Further investigation revealed that the Modesto School District has schools with the same acronyms as Marysville & Lindhurst High Schools.
Yuba County staff got in touch with Stanislaus County authorities and according to a YCSO media release “ the threats appear to be part of a growing nationwide trend.” However, local investigators have no reason to believe our schools are a target of yesterday’s post, but extra patrols were deployed.
