(YCPD release) — The City of Yuba City is proud to be the home of the Annual Sikh Festival and Parade which is held on the first Sunday of November in Yuba City since 1979. The parade and the events leading up to it bring in thousands of people. To help manage the influx of people attending the Sikh Temple festivities, the Yuba City Police Department will be manning road closures to keep traffic out of the residential area on the north side of Butte House Road between Hooper Road and Delle Drive.

The following intersections will be closed to vehicles and manned by law enforcement personnel on Friday and Saturday. Law Enforcement will allow residents through these closures. Vehicles without a resident pass (or identification showing residency within the neighborhood) will be turned away and not allowed into the area.
• Hooper Road & Butte House Road
• Hooper Road & True Road
• Pepperwood Drive & Butte House Road
• True Road & Maddison Road
• Delle Drive & Butte House

These additional closures are scheduled for Friday from 11AM to 11PM and Saturday from 6AM to 11PM to keep traffic congestion to a minimum within the neighborhood most affected by Sikh Temple activities.

These closures, and the officers working them, will be in place to keep your neighborhood accessible to you and emergency vehicles. Please work with them and be patient at the closures as you come and go from the neighborhood.

On the day of the parade, Sunday November 3rd, preferred Access Routes in and out of Controlled Areas for Residents and Parishioners:
Use Western Parkway at Highway 20 or North Township Road at Monroe Drive to enter the Royo Ranchero neighborhood area. Butte House Road east from N. Township Road is also a preferred access route to the area west of Tierra Buena Road.
Officers at the check points will be screening to assure only residents are entering. This process will be much faster and more efficient if you have a resident pass available to be shown. Without the pass, the Officer will need to see identification showing residency in the neighborhood.

Again, the purpose of these road closures is to keep traffic congestion from through traffic and parked vehicles from inhibiting access to your homes for you and for emergency vehicles.
