(Gridley, CA) – A woman was hit by a train while walking on the tracks, just south of the city limits, yesterday afternoon near Washington Street in Gridley. However, while a train / pedestrian collision at the beginning of the year resulted in a man’s death, in this case, Gridley’s Police Chief tells Action News the woman sustained only very minor injuries: a cut on the leg when the train “grazed the woman.”
The unidentified woman was taken to the hospital and “is expected to be OK.”
The train was stopped for around half-an-hour and the chief told the TV station they’re in communication with Union Pacific’s Police Department to increase patrols “due to the recent number of collisions in the area.”
