(Elk Grove, CA) — A mother and her son are facing multiple charges for trying to kill the son’s girlfriend. Elk Grove Police say a fight took place at the boyfriend’s home during the overnight hours on Friday.

The couple had been together for several years and the girlfriend did not live with him.

The girlfriend and the boyfriend’s mother started arguing and the mother slapped the girlfriend. The boyfriend pushed his girlfriend to the ground and strangled her. The mother and son threatened to hurt the girlfriend’s family if she called police. The boyfriend continued to physically assault his girlfriend and threatened her with a gun. The victim was able to call 911 and the mother and son were arrested. The mother and son had multiple weapons and drugs inside their home, including a rifle.

They were taken to jail and are being held without bail
