(Yuba-Sutter, CA) — Fall is underway, and officials say it’s important to be ready for peak wildfire season in California. Some of the biggest, most damaging, and deadliest fires have happened during the fall months in recent years.
One of the largest autumn wildfires was the September 2020 Creek fire. It burned over 370-thousand acres and destroyed more than 850 buildings.
The deadliest wildfire ever recorded in California happened in the fall of 2018.
The Camp fire started on November 8th and took the lives of 85 people while burning over 150-thousand acres and destroying more than 18-thousand buildings.
The California Office of Emergency Services says to always be prepared for wildfire no matter the time of year.
