(Wheatland Police Department release) — On February 4, 2024 Wheatland Police Department officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle that was speeding westbound on Main Street. The driver of the vehicle was on probation out of Sacramento County and admitted to having drugs in the vehicle.
The passenger who was also on probation had an open alcoholic container in the vehicle and was asked to exit the vehicle. The passenger did not obey the commands of the officers and actively resisted them.
During the physical altercation, the passenger refused to let go of a backpack he had in his possession. It was only after the passenger was handcuffed did the officers locate a loaded 38 revolver pistol in his backpack along with numerous drugs, drug paraphernalia and illegal fireworks.
The driver was arrested and charged with:

• 11377(a) H&S- Possession of Methamphetamine
• 4060 BP- Possession of Medication w/o Prescription
• 1203.2 PC- Probation Violation
The passenger was arrested and charged with:
• 11378 H&S- Possession of Methamphetamine for sale
• 11351 H&S- Possession of Controlled Substance for sale
• 11364(a) H&S- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
• 11377(a) H&S- Possession of Methamphetamine
• 11350(a) H&S- Possession of Controlled Substance
• 25850(a) PC- Possession of Loaded Firearm
• 11370.1 H&S- Possession of Controlled Substance while Armed.
• 23222 CVC- Possession of Open Container
• 4060 BP- Possession of Medication w/o Prescription
• 12085 H&S- Possession of Explosives
• 148(a) PC- Resist arrest
• 1203.2 PC- Probation Violation
