(Rancho Cordova, CA) — One person is behind bars after a nearly 600-acre grass fire in Rancho Cordova. The fire, which started Monday afternoon, was fully contained by about 7:30 p.m.

The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District says the fire originated from an unattended campfire in a homeless encampment along a levee. The person accused of leaving the fire to burn faces the charge of reckless burning. No structures were threatened.
