(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – At their meeting Tuesday, the Sutter County Supervisors followed the County Administrator’s recommendation and voted unanimously to approve a hiring freeze.

Sutter County is operating at a budget deficit projected to reach $12-million by the fiscal year 2027/28, according to The Appeal-Democrat. Exemptions to the hiring freeze will be made “as needed in certain departments such as public safety.”

The county is scheduled to release its 2024/25 fiscal year budget publicly, no later than June 7th.
