(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – At their meeting Tuesday, the Sutter County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to declare seven county owned properties as surplus, clearing the path to put them on the market.
That includes the former Kmart building in Yuba City. It was purchased by the county two years ago for just over $8.2-million, and was to be converted into a consolidation facility for several separately housed county offices & departments. However, pandemic pricing raised the projected cost of renovation by $43-million, according to The Appeal-Democrat, as the plan was then scrapped.
The other six county properties approved for sale include the former Sutter County Animal Shelter and a vacant lot next to the new facility.
