(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – The Sutter County Sheriff’s Boat Patrol was in the right place at the right time Sunday. According to a release: Just below the 5th Street Bridge in the area of Feather River Parkway.
There, officers saw a group of people on the beach motioning for help, then, “noticed a subject thrashing in the water “ around 100 yards off shore. The individual was caught in a heavy current, “in obvious distress and not wearing a life jacket.”
Officers threw the man a life jacket & rescue rope, at which time he was secured safely in the patrol boat.
A short time later the boat patrol noticed two women on rafts, also caught in heavy current, around a quarter-mile downstream, and they were also recovered safely. As it turned out, the woman had entered the water in an attempt to save the drowning man.
