(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – The Sutter County Sheriff’s office reports, “prompt and diligent” correction officers “stopped the movement of contraband and potential harm to staff or other inmates.” The incident occurred Wednesday morning, when officers caught an inmate attempting to sneak an approximately 2 foot long metal handle he had removed from a bucket in the laundry room, trying to take it into the housing unit, by hiding it in a pile of clothing.
A release says that length of metal “could have resulted in roughly 10 or more weapons made and circulated throughout our facility.”
