(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – The Sutter County Children & Families Commission is announcing over $350,000 in grant funding: $170,000 to enhance pedestrian & bicycle safety and $194,000 to promote child passenger safety, both from the California Office of Traffic Safety.

The grants will enable the commission to host car-seat checkup events and, “ensure low-income families have access to proper child safety seats” and, host National Walk to School Day and National Bicycle Safety Month activities. That will include safety workshops, bicycle rodeos and organize walking school buses & pedestrian focused field trips to encourage safe community practices for children and families.
