(Oroville, CA) – The Oroville Police Department reports the arrest of the suspected hit & run driver who killed a pedestrian December 29th on Feather River Boulevard near Feather River Cinemas. The investigation utilized the city’s automated license plate reader system and identified a vehicle owned by 33-year-old Elora Hubbard of Oroville as a suspect.
On December 31st, officers visited her residence where they located the suspect vehicle, which had damage consistent with the hit & run pedestrian death of 56-year-old Gail McElroy of Oroville, however, Hubbard was not at that location at that time.
A search warrant was served January 9th and “it was apparent Hubbard had abandoned her home after the collision” according to investigators, who learned she may have fled to Chico. An undercover operation was conducted yesterday resulting in Hubbard’s arrest.
