(Supervisor Gary Bradford Face Book post) — Are you frustrated by how long it takes to count ballots after the election? Did you know your actions can speed up the process?
If you plan to use your vote-by-mail ballot, ensure it’s RECEIVED by Yuba County Elections on or before Friday, November 1st. How?
– Fill it out and put it in a drop box before November 1st.
– Mail a few days before November 1st
– Drop it off at Yuba County Elections during business hours on/before noon on November 1st.
Drop box locations include:
Linda Fire Station #3 at 1765 River Oaks Blvd in Plumas Lake
Yuba County Government Center at 915 8th St in Marysville (parking lot and lobby)
If your ballot is received at Yuba County elections on or before November 1st, it can be processed, counted, and included in the results released shortly after 8pm on election night.
Another option is to take your ballot to your designated polling location on election day and vote it there (this is different than dropping it off in its envelope). This will also ensure it’s counted on election night and included in one of the later updates.
If you choose to mail your ballot on (or just before) election day or drop it off at any polling site on election day (in its envelope), it will not be processed and counted until several days to several weeks after the election. However, this is still a perfectly legal and acceptable way to cast your ballot; it will just take time to process and count.
