(Forbestown, CA) — The Forbestown man accused of killing his grandmother has been charged with murder after the Butte County Sheriff’s Office investigated. 37 year old Kenneth Sean Lewis, did not appear in court for his arraignment after it was reported he unsuccessfully attempted to hang himself in the Butte County Jail, according to Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey.

Ramsey said his office filed charges on Lewis for the murder of 80 year old Violet Macgregor, after meeting with sheriff’s detectives and reviewing their evidence of the killing.

Lewis faces the possibility of life in prison for his actions.

The judge appointed a public defender for Lewis in his absence and scheduled a further arraignment for Jan. 31. The judge also set bail in the case at $1 million.
