(Sacramento, CA) — A strong atmospheric river has moved into Northern California, including the Yuba-Sutter area,  and will continue through Saturday morning. There will be prolonged periods of rain, mountain snow, and gusty southerly winds.

The National Weather Service in Sacramento says widespread major flooding is not expected because the ground is so dry and should absorb most of the rain, but there will be enough rain to cause sharp rises on area waterways.

A second, much colder wave of the storm is expected to come in on Saturday into Tuesday.
