(Sacramento, CA) — The California Public Utilities Commission is proposing a 45-million-dollar penalty against PG and E in connection with the 2021 Dixie Fire. The more than 963-thousand-acre fire started after a tree made contact with PG and E equipment north of Cresta Dam. It ended up being the second-largest wildfire in the state’s history.
The California Public Utilities Commission says shareholders, not ratepayers, would be paying the fine. The commission will discuss the proposed settlement on November 16th.
