(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – The California Cultural and Historical Endowment, part of the State Department of Natural Resources, has awarded a $383,000 grant to the Sutter County Museum “to better tell our region’s flood history.”
This will include, most recently, the ’97 and ’86 Yuba County floods, the ’55 Yuba City flood and most historically, the so-called “super flood” of 1862 & 63, that returned the entire Sacramento Valley into a shallow inland sea, which it was in prehistory for millions of years.
