(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – The Marysville City Council has called a special meeting for today at 3:00 where it is expected they will sign a contract for the demolition of the Hotel Marysville. That option would be chosen over simply removing the top floor, according to The Appeal-Democrat, as bids indicate the cost for each is nearly identical, in the $780,000 range.

The debris, which contains hazardous material, most notably asbestos, will then be covered so E Street can be fully reopened again. The city will then await the EPA’s decision on whether or not they’ll grant the $4-million the city applied for last week to cover the cost of the toxic debris cleanup.
