(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – The State Attorney General issued a press release yesterday announcing a $40,500 settlement, including $36,500 going to three affected tenants, following an investigation into unlawful evictions in Marysville by Bosanek Enterprises doing business as Heritage Property Management Services.
One of the unlawful evictions involved the tenants being told the landlord’s uncle was moving in, not a qualifying relative for lawful eviction. Ultimately, no relative whatsoever moved in and the unit was rented to a new tenant “at a large increase from the original rate.”
The two other unlawful Marysville evictions by Heritage involved notice of “substantial remodel,” but the work done did not qualify for eviction. And again, the units were re-rented at “substantially raised rates.”
