(Placer County, CA) — The Placer County Board of Supervisors is looking to stop a plan that would allow hypodermic needles to be distributed across the county. Today, the board may consider an urgency ordinance to prohibit the plan.
Supporters say distributing clean needles will stop the spread of infectious diseases due to people sharing dirty needles. But, Placer County Sheriff Wayne Woo says one of the major concerns is that there’s no information about where the needles would be collected or distributed.
If the ban blocking the needle distribution program is passed, it would only be in effect until October 27th for the unincorporated parts of the county.
