(Roseville, CA) — Placer County is reporting its second human case of West Nile virus of the year. Both cases were detected in the Roseville area. The Placer Mosquito and Vector Control District also says a mosquito sample collected near the Lincoln Airport tested positive for the Saint Louis Encephalitis virus. It’s the first known case of that disease in a mosquito in Placer County since 2017.

As of Wednesday, 172 mosquitoes and 41 dead birds collected in the county have tested positive for West Nile virus.
