(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – PG&E has entered into a real estate deal in Sutter County with rice growers and conservationists, to help preserve both agriculture & wildlife habitat “for decades to come” according to a press release.
The agreement is a partnership with Tule Basin Farms near Robbins for PG&E to cover the cost of creating a 178 acre conservation easement near the Sutter National Wildlife Refuge, allowing both the Tule Basin to continue to farm rice and the non-profit organization, California Waterfowl, to manage the land for the benefit of ducks, geese, swans and other migratory birds that use Central Valley wetlands as migration stopovers along the Pacific Flyway, as well as conserve habitat for two dozen threatened or endangered species, including the Giant Garter Snake.
