(Oroville, CA) – In Butte County Court, a 16-year-old Oroville male has pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter, in what the district Attorney’s press release refers to as the accidental shooting death of 13-year-old Amadeus Miller-Ramos. Despite the guilty plea, the name of the 16-year-old was not provided.
It was predawn on the morning of July 18th, when the unidentified youth, a 15-year-old and Miller-Ramos were “joyriding” in a stolen vehicle with a handgun on board. The 16-year-old shooter, “playing with the firearm” in the back seat, shot Miller-Ramos in the back, as he sat in the front passenger seat, killing him. The 16-year-old claims he didn’t realize the gun was loaded.
He and the 15-year-old then dumped the body of Miller-Ramos in a field near the intersection on 18th Street and Tehama Avenue in Thermalito.
