(Butte County, CA) – The Butte County Coroner has released the identity of the pedestrian killed by a vehicle on HWY 70 late Tuesday night as 57-year-old Johnny Byrd of Oroville.

CHP reports 34-year-old Phanat Koe, also of Oroville, was driving north on 70 near Grover Lane at around 11;30 Tuesday night, when he saw Byrd crossing the highway eastbound, but was unable to avoid hitting him.
