(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – In Yuba County Court, 31-year-old Juan Ortiz pled guilty Monday morning to murder, in the shooting death of 10-year-old Frank Rosiles. The shooting occurred February 5th, when deputies responded to a 911 call of shots fired from a vehicle heading north on HWY 70 toward Marysville. Two minutes later, another 911 call came in from Alicia Avenue in Olivehurst reporting someone had been shot.

A responding sergeant found the 10-year-old in front of a residence with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Despite life-saving measures on-site and at the ER, Frankie died around half-an-hour later.

Ortiz was taken into custody on Lemon Street around 15 minutes before Frankie was declared dead.

When Ortiz is sentenced September 18th, he’ll receive a negotiated teem of 35 to life, according to a press release from the District Attorney’s office.
