(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – The Yuba County DA has issued a press release reporting that despite his office’s request, Judge Benjamin Wirtschafter yesterday instead followed the Yuba County Probation Department’s recommendation and sentenced Shannon Fay Bezerra (Huddy) to only 120 hours of community service. That came after she pled “straight up” to felony embezzlement from an elder.

The prosecution was seeking “substantial time in jail.”

Bezerra (Huddy), through the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) program was providing in-home assistance to 93-year-old Pearl Graham, known as ‘the tulip lady’ and stole $2,700 from Graham’s safe, eventually confessing according to the release, saying “she felt entitled to the money” because IHSS “did not pay her when her clients were hospitalized,” which Graham was at the time of the theft.

Bezerra (Huddy) was arrested last May for possessing meth with intent to sell, served only a single day in jail and continues to work through IHSS.
