(Sacramento, CA) — The state is expanding coverage for in vitro fertilization. Governor Gavin Newsom signed a bill Sunday that will require large group health plans and disability insurance policies to provide coverage for infertility and fertility services, including IVF. This means more support for families who are trying to have children.
The new law is expected to start in July of 2025.
The bill was signed after U.S. Senate Republicans blocked a nationwide in vitro fertilization access guarantee.
