(Sacramento, CA) — California Governor Gavin Newsom has issued an executive order aimed at lowering electric bills. The executive order, issued on Wednesday, asks the state Public Utilities and Energy commissions to try to lower power bills in the future, or at the minimum, stop them from rising so fast.
The Golden State has the second-highest electric rates in the U.S., and residential customer bills have gone up by as much as 110-percent in the last decade.
Newsom is also asking for a closer review of how utilities are spending money to prevent transmission lines from starting wildfires.
