(Sacramento, CA) — Governor Gavin Newsom is reaffirming his support for the Sites Reservoir, a four-point-five-billion dollar project aimed at improving California’s water supply. This would be the state’s largest new reservoir in 50 years, helping cities and farms prepare for droughts linked to climate change.

The reservoir, which would collect water from the Sacramento River during rainy seasons, is expected to irrigate 500-thousand acres of farmland and provide drinking water for 24 million people, including residents of Santa Clara County, parts of the East Bay, and Los Angeles.
