(Sacramento, CA) — A new road connecting North Natomas to the Sacramento International Airport has opened along Elkhorn Boulevard. The new one-mile road has four lanes. It will allow local traffic to reach the airport without using Interstate 5.
It starts at Elkhorn Boulevard and Powerline Road, heading west towards the airport, and joins the existing road just south of the ARCO gas station at the airport. The new road also provides direct access to the Metro Air Park from SMF. Metro Air Park is home to Amazon SMF1, APL Logistics, and SC Johnson.
The extension is also a convenient access point to the airport’s waiting parking lot for those picking up passengers.
