(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – The Yuba County Sheriff’s office reports a murder in Marysville yesterday and the arrest of a suspect, less than an hour later.

Deputies responded at 3:15 yesterday afternoon to a call of shots fired at Remington Way and Silvergate Court. The victim had at least one gunshot wound and lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful. Witnesses provided a suspect and vehicle description and quickly located it. However, upon spotting the vehicle, a high speed chase ensued, reaching 95 mph, when the suspect, 45-year-old Sunny Bavra, lost control, attempted to flee on foot and failed.

Bavra was booked on charges of homicide, felony evading and weapons offenses. A press release notes “This is a very active investigation and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office at (530) 749-7777.”

At the time of the YCSO release, the name of the victim and information on whether or not the suspect and victim knew each other, was not provided.
