(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – A Saturday night crash on HWY 99 in Sutter County leaves a Marysville man dead and a Yuba City man injured.
ABC10 reports the accident occurred around 7:00 Saturday evening along HWY 99 at Nicolaus Avenue. A Ford Fusion had traveled from the northbound ramp onto 99 from Garden Highway, during which, the driver was unable to negotiate the ramp’s sharp turn, crossing into a lane of incoming traffic on 99, colliding with a Ram 1500.
First responders found the driver of the Fusion trapped and not breathing, and life-saving efforts were unsuccessful.
According to reports, the unidentified 61-year-old male driving the Fusion was under the influence of alcohol. The Ram’s driver, a Yuba City man, was injured and taken to a hospital while his 12-year-old passenger did not require hospitalization.
The crash resulted in northbound HWY 99 being closed for up to two hours.
