(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – An update regarding conditions at Ellis Lake was provided Tuesday by Marysville City Manager Jim Schaad, as the city has been confronting everything from aquatic weeds to algae buildup in recent months. The Appeal-Democrat reports Schaad’s update included that the city is currently obtaining a permit, required to remove those water pollutants
The Marysville City Council is also now considering that Shaad pursue a contract, “not to exceed $60,000” to chemically treat the aquatic weeds, and to authorize city staff to “submit a grant application to the Yuba Water Agency to fund treatment of Ellis Lake to mitigate aquatic weeds and algae blooms in the amount of $300,000.”
Water quality of this Marysville landmark is often affected by phosphate levels, and the need for an ongoing maintenance plan is in the works, until a more permanent solution is found.
