(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – In Yuba County Court, 61-year-old Laurence Lang has been sentenced to life without the possibility of parole after a jury found the Linda man guilty of the premeditated murder of Robert Zandstra on April 6th of last year.
A fatal altercation took place after a woman confronted Lang on Country Club Court, about letting his dog relieve itself on a car. That escalated into an argument when Zandstra intervened, telling Lang “not to speak to a woman that way.” According to a press release from the District Attorney, the two men “exchanged some heated words” at which time Lang walked home, dropped his dog off, got a gun, returned to Country Club Court where Zandstra and others were visiting and children were playing. Lang approached Zandsrta, getting within 15 feet of him, then pulled the trigger 3 times while Zandstra had his hands up and was backing away.
As Zandstra lay injured on the ground, Lang shot him 3 more times “before casually turning around and walking back to his apartment.”
