(Yuba-Sutter, CA) — Following a drop of 18%, due primarily to COVID, the Yuba Community College District is reporting a major increase in enrollment. At present, district officials tell The Appeal-Democrat that enrollment for the fall semester is over 6,400 students, after a pandemic low of 5,700. That number includes both Yuba College and Woodland Community College.
Several new programs have also helped spark higher enrollment numbers, as Yuba College Vice President of Instruction Dr. Jeremy Brown tells the paper. That includes teacher preparation “in partnership with California State University” and the expansion of other programs as well.
As well, dual enrollment in 2023, allowing high school students to take college courses, has added to the recovery after the COVID decline.
