(Gridley, CA) – The Gridley Police Department reports Wednesday’s single vehicle collision with a power pole on HWY 99, was a fatal.

At around 10:00, 44-year-old Sonia Aguilar de Hernandez of Live Oak collided with the pole, just south of West Liberty Road. She had to be extricated from her pickup after a fire under the truck was extinguished.

She was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later died.
