(Sacramento, CA) — State lawmakers and community members are mourning the eleven people killed in Saturday night’s mass shooting in Monterey Park. A vigil was held on the west steps of the state Capitol on Monday night. The gathering was organized by the California Asian American and Pacific Islander legislative caucus.
Those in attendance also prayed for the nine survivors of the shooting.
It followed another mass shooting that left seven people dead in Half Moon Bay on Monday afternoon. The victims, found at two agricultural facilities, are believed to be Chinese-American farmworkers. The shooter, a 67-year-old man, is also believed to be Chinese-American. He was taken into custody.
