(Sacramento, CA) — A Sacramento Superior Court Judge is ruling that the state’s plan to fund the Delta tunnel project is unlawful. The court says that the Department of Water Resources’ bond efforts to fund the project is not legally valid.
Those bonds were to designed to raise 16-million dollars to construct the controversial tunnel through the San Joaquin Delta. When the project got the green-light last year, the Sierra Club sued to stop it, alleging the tunnel would be disastrous to the ecosystem in the Delta by diverting water away.
