(Folsom, CA) — There is new information about the death of an inmate at California State Prison, Sacramento in Folsom. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation says the inmate, Christopher Leong, died after being pinned to the ground by staff last Friday night. That was after he allegedly charged at and started hitting staff.
Corrections officers first tried to place him in physical restraints, then pinned him to the ground after he started to lash out and spit at them. Leong fell unconscious then stopped breathing. His official cause of death has not been determined.
Ten staff members suffered minor injuries during the struggle.
