(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – A major victory for almond & walnut growers in the Yuba-Sutter area, as India has ended its 20% retaliatory tariffs on U.S. grown produce, that had been in place since June 2018. That was in response to a U.S. Tariff on Indian steel & aluminum.
In a press release from the Almond Board of California, the Vice President for Technical and Regulatory Affairs said they’ve been working with government officials “to reduce impediments for export of California almonds & walnuts to India, our largest export destination” and are, “very happy to see retaliatory tariffs removed, which will both help increase demand in India and reduce cost to consumers there.”
